COMPASSION :: Day 9

Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” and the second is to “love your neighbor as yourself.” As we love Him with all of our being, our cup overflows with love for others. Today we are praying for our children that they will live with hearts of compassion and love for their neighbors. We are praying that they will have eyes to see the needs around them, to feel a growing compassion for those in need, and to respond with action to meet the needs in love.

Lord, I pray that you will give my children eyes to see the people in need around them. Thank you for giving us the picture of the Good Samaritan: a neighbor who saw a need, had compassion, and moved in action. I pray that you will put my children on paths that allow them to encounter neighbors whom they can love and care for. I pray that they will do justly, and love mercy, and walk humbly with you. Please guard their hearts and give them hearts of compassion. Thank you for creating them as vessels who carry your power and your love to those in their lives. I pray that you will fill them to overflowing! Lord, help us, as their parents to live as models and to foster opportunity for them. Teach us to live as Jesus did…in love and compassion and for the sake of justice and mercy.

**Write out a list of your child’s friends…pray for them and your child’s influence in their lives.
**Put together bags of needed items for homeless people. Pray together over the bags and the opportunities the Lord will give.
**Prayer walk your neighborhood, praying for opportunity to love your neighbors.
